Blackrock Ethereum Chief Joins Sharplink With $10B ETH Strategy in His Grip
Sharplink Gaming has tapped Blackrock’s top digital asset strategist, Joseph Chalom, as its new co-chief executive officer in a bold move to accelerate its institutional ethereum strategy. The company announced the appointment on July 25, confirming that Chalom officially began the role on July 24. The announcement details:
Chalom brings world-class institutional leadership to Sharplink, having spent the past 20 years delivering digital finance innovations at Blackrock, including the launch of the Ishares Ethereum Trust (ETHA), the largest Ethereum exchange traded product with over $10 billion in current assets.
At Blackrock, Chalom served as Managing Director and Head of Strategic Ecosystem Partnerships, where he shaped high-profile collaborations with Coinbase, Circle, Nasdaq, BNY Mellon, and Anchorage Digital Bank. He also held senior operational roles, including interim Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Blackrock Solutions, the firm’s technology and risk platform division.
Sharplink has aggressively adopted an Ethereum Treasury Strategy, aiming to be the leading corporate holder of ETH. It continuously acquires Ethereum as its primary treasury reserve asset, primarily through “At-The-Market” (ATM) equity offerings. The company also stakes nearly all of its ETH holdings to generate additional yield, maximizing returns and actively participating in the Ethereum ecosystem.
Joseph Lubin, Sharplink’s chairman, called the hire a major validation of the company’s direction:
