World Launches Human-First Blockchain Upgrade to Prioritize Real Users 1

PBH Prioritizes Actual People

World, the project formerly known as Worldcoin, has unveiled a major upgrade to its blockchain ecosystem: Priority Blockspace for Humans (PBH) on its World Chain mainnet. The goal is to create a vast network of verified human users—targeting over a billion participants.

According to a statement, PBH is a groundbreaking feature that reserves a portion of each block on World Chain specifically for Orb-verified humans. This ensures their transactions are processed with speed, reliability, and fairness—even during high-traffic periods. Unlike traditional blockchain systems that prioritize transactions based on gas fees or economic bidding, PBH favors proof of human-based ordering. This guarantees users priority access to core services like proof-of-human verifications, Mini Apps, and grant claims, without extra costs.

Commenting on the launch, Steven Smith, vice president, Engineering and Protocol at Tools for Humanity, a contributor to the World project, said:

“By granting real human transactions built-in priority during block production, Priority Blockspace for Humans effectively makes World Chain fairer and more efficient. We firmly believe that humans and AI can coexist harmoniously, and this development reflects our commitment to building user-friendly systems that benefit humanity while also making the most of bleeding-edge technology.”

The PBH launch comes several months after World unveiled the Secure Multi-Party Computation (SMPC), a cryptographic breakthrough that enabled the perfect secrecy of personal information and the deletion of old iris codes. The SMPC ensures that all information used to verify a person’s World ID is not only encrypted but also split into multiple secret fragments distributed to trusted parties, making it impossible to link anonymized data back to an individual.

Concerning the PBH, World disclosed that it has been battle-tested in an incentivized testnet by a diverse group of researchers and developers and has also received a stamp of approval through independent audits by Nethermind. Seamlessly integrated into World Chain’s Block Builder and Rollup Boost, PBH also empowers custom transaction ordering across OP Stack chains, highlighting its robust and adaptable design.
