Space and Time Launches Its Mainnet for Developers

Microsoft-Backed Space and Time Launches Mainnet for Zero-Knowledge-Proven Data 1

Empowering Developers to Build Secure, Data-Driven Onchain Applications

Space and Time, a blockchain platform backed by tech giant Microsoft, has officially launched its public and permissionless mainnet. The platform is designed to provide zero-knowledge (ZK)-proven data directly to smart contracts, aiming to power a new generation of sophisticated, data-driven cryptocurrency applications.

As per the company statement, Space and Time specializes in indexing data from major blockchains like Ethereum and stores it on a decentralized network of database validators. This setup enables developers to access, query, and use zero-knowledge proofs on the extensive dataset. Developers can then link this verified data to their smart contracts through Proof of SQL, an innovative sub-second ZK coprocessor tailored for SQL database queries.

Scott Dykstra, identified as Contributor number one at Space and Time, highlighted the limitations the platform addresses. According to Dykstra, before the emergence of Space and Time, onchain applications faced security risks and potential tampering when trying to access basic user data from blockchain activity databases. Additionally, enterprises lacked a secure method to connect their cloud databases with smart contracts. Dykstra added:

Today we’re thrilled to announce the mainnet launch of Space and Time, which will empower developers to build sophisticated, data-driven onchain applications secured by cryptographic proofs.

According to the statement, the current limitations of smart contracts have restricted the complexity and functionality of decentralized applications. The mainnet launch aims to overcome this hurdle, paving the way for the next wave of onchain innovation including apps ranging from data-rich AI agents to tokenized real-world systems. Space and Time enables this by providing a verifiable and decentralized database network capable of querying the entire history of Ethereum and other blockchains.

Nate Holiday, CEO of Makeinfinite Labs and Co-Founder of Space and Time, emphasized the foundational nature of his team’s work.

“At MakeInfinite Labs, we’re focused on building foundational infrastructure to enable the next generation of crypto applications. Contributing core technologies like Proof of SQL and the original architecture of Space and Time is part of that vision. We’re excited to see the ecosystem take this work forward and unlock new possibilities for verifiable, data-driven applications,” Holiday said.

The permissionless nature of the Space and Time protocol is said to enable anyone to contribute to the network by providing high-quality datasets or staking their assets. Meanwhile, the mainnet launch is reported to mark a significant step toward enabling more complex and data-rich applications within the cryptocurrency and decentralized finance space.
