Exploring Sacabam (SCB) in the Sui Ecosystem

Exploring Sacabam (SCB) on Sui: Long-Term Memecoin Opportunity or Short-Term Hype? 1

Memecoins have become an integral part of the cryptocurrency culture, and within the Sui ecosystem, one memecoin that stands out is Sacabam (SCB). While FUD may have garnered more attention, SCB has been around even longer and offers a unique long-term potential for savvy investors.

Thesis: Long-Term vs. Short-Term Memecoins

There are two distinct types of memecoins in the crypto world:

  1. Short-Term Memecoins: Created primarily for quick profits by developers, these memecoins often rise sharply, driven by hype, only to crash back down as developers sell off tokens and abandon the project.
  2. Long-Term Memecoins: These projects aim to build a culture and community within a particular ecosystem, often creating more value than just short-term profit. Examples include tokens like PEPE, WEN, SLERF, and COQ.

Sacabam (SCB) fits into the long-term memecoin category, and here’s why.

Signals That Sacabam (SCB) Is a Long-Term Memecoin:

  1. Recognized Token on Sui Wallet and Explorer:
Sacabam (SCB) is one of only two memecoins on Sui to be tagged as a Recognized Token within the Sui Wallet and Sui Explorer. The only other memecoin with this status is FUD. This recognition is significant, as projects must pass strict KYC and provide substantial information to MystenLabs to achieve this status, making it unlikely for short-term or roadmap-less projects to qualify.
  2. CPO of MystenLabs Involvement:
In the past, the CPO of MystenLabs, Adeniyi, publicly supported SCB and even held 1/3 of the token’s liquidity pool (LP) before burning his portion. His involvement signals a strong level of legitimacy and interest in the project from within the ecosystem itself.
  3. Project Development Beyond Memes:
Unlike many other memecoins, SCB has gone beyond meme culture by developing additional projects within its ecosystem. These include:
    • NFT PFPs (Profile Picture NFTs)
    • A game site: Aqua Sacabam
    • Utility sites: Such as WeakHand to track how much users sold at the bottom, and Private Room Chat for token holders.
    • Collaborations with other DeFi projects like Pandorafi, Sui Pearl, Poseidollar, and Suilend.
  4. Consistent Price Movement:
A look at SCB’s price chart shows that the token has experienced typical memecoin price behavior—pump, dump, sideways movement, and repeat—but crucially, it has maintained trading volume for six months. This consistency contrasts with short-term memecoins, where developers often abandon the project after an initial pump.
  5. Strong and Active Community:
While SCB’s community may not be as large as FUD’s, it remains engaged and active. For instance, the community pooled funds to list SCB on MEXC, and there have been offline gatherings, such as one in the Philippines. With around 10,000 holders, the project has gained the trust of its supporters, with some making significant investments during sideways trading periods.

Why I’m Holding SCB and Haven’t Taken Profits Yet:

  1. Under the Radar:
Despite being one of the first legit memecoins on Sui, SCB remains relatively unknown. This is partly because SCB initially launched on FlowX Finance, which wasn’t integrated with Dexscreener at the time. As a result, early searches for SCB returned little information, leading some to mistake it for a scam due to its small liquidity pool ($5K on Turbos).
  2. No Token Inflation:
SCB’s total supply has already been distributed, with 88% of the tokens released to the community and 12% held in a team wallet for future CEX listings. This lack of inflation makes SCB an attractive long-term hold, as there’s no ongoing dilution. A portion of the team’s supply was used to facilitate its listing on MEXC.
  3. Small Market Cap with Growth Potential:
Compared to FUD, which has a market cap of $18M and an FDV of $47M, SCB’s market cap is just $2.7M and FDV is $3M. In an uptrend, a legit meme token like SCB within the Sui ecosystem could easily reach a $100M market cap. I expect that as Sui gains more attention and investment, SCB will experience significant growth.

Conclusion: Is Sacabam (SCB) Worth the Long-Term Hold?

Based on SCB’s recognized status, strong community, consistent price performance, and legit development efforts, I’m confident that SCB is positioned for long-term success within the Sui ecosystem. While it may be flying under the radar now, its potential for future growth is clear, especially as more investors take notice of its legit backing and strong foundation.
