Building a Legitimate, Community-Driven Economy

Decentralized football management game Soccerverse has secured a global licensing agreement with FIFPRO, the union representing professional footballers, granting access to the names and likenesses of more than 65,000 players worldwide.

The deal, which spans over 70 FIFPRO member unions across nations including England, France, Italy, Argentina, Portugal, Belgium, Scotland, Norway and Sweden, marks a major step toward authenticity in blockchain-based sports gaming.

“Partnering with FIFPRO is a landmark moment for Soccerverse and a massive win for our community,” said Andrew Gore, CEO of Soccerverse. “Trust and authenticity are critical to our vision, and this license is our commitment to building a legitimate football universe. This is a true partnership that also supports FIFPRO’s vital mission, providing a global platform for the entire collective of players and giving our community the chance to discover talent from under-represented footballing nations.”

Running on the Polygon blockchain, Soccerverse allows fans to manage clubs, trade players, and compete in a dynamic, community-driven economy. With the new license, gamers will soon be able to build squads featuring real-world stars, adding realism and trust often missing in other blockchain-powered titles.

According to Andy Colosimo, COO of Soccerverse, most blockchain football games still operate like traditional Web2 titles. While their assets may be on-chain, their gameplay is centralized. Studios run the servers, control the simulations, and retain the power to change the rules at any time.

Soccerverse, however, offers a decentralized alternative. Its entire world runs autonomously on-chain with key decisions executed by decentralized logic that no single entity controls.

Meanwhile, FIFPRO welcomed the collaboration, highlighting Soccerverse’s innovative approach to fan-driven club management.

“We value partners who are willing to innovate and rethink the norm as digital entertainment evolves,” said FIFPRO Commercial Enterprises.
